Bamboo and wood processing industry as a traditional manufacturing industry
Mar 12, 2022
There are many small and micro enterprises in the industry, mainly producing bamboo and wood products such as toothpicks, corks, and handles. However, these bamboo and wood processing enterprises are small in scale and scattered, and in the process of industrial development, there are shortcomings such as rough product processing, low added value, and insignificant agglomeration effect.
Taking the bamboo and wood products processing industry in Longquan City, Zhejiang Province as an example, in 2008, there were 76 bamboo and wood processing enterprises above designated size in Longquan City, accounting for only 43% of the total number of enterprises. Among the 76 enterprises above designated size, only 5 have an output value of 50 million yuan. The scale of the enterprise is relatively small, the equipment is backward, and the product grade is low. The ability of independent research and development is weak, the replacement of products is slow, and the new products occupy less market, and most of them eat leftovers from others. There are few technology-based and innovative companies, the corporate brand effect and market competitiveness are weak, and there is a lack of well-known brands. In recent years, although the situation has improved, there is still a lack of larger scale and higher output value.
